18 Remain in Main Event with €753,330 in the Prizepool

Joni Rantamaki leads a star-studded international field into the Final Day of the Irish Poker Festival Main Event in the Intercontinental Dublin. Joni, who hails from Finland, bagged 2,113,000 chips overnight putting him well ahead of Ireland’s Conor O’Rourke (1,520,000) and US visitor Sean Hegarty (1,232,000)

The surviving field contains 6 Irishmen, 4 Lithuanians, 2 Englishmen, 2 Americans, and one each from Austria, Germany, Finland and Scotland. That Scotsman is the very dangerous Niall Farrell who has just under a million in chips whilst the second American is superstar Alec Torelli with 638,000 in ninth place. Amongst the Irish is Eoghan O’Dea son of the legendary Donnacha, and a former WSOP ME final tablist; he is a match for any player in the field.

Jason Tompkins Wins Saturday €10k

Former poker player turned hairdresser, Jason Tompkins showed that he still knows a few tricks by taking down the Saturday €10k after a titanic heads up battle with Aidan Quinlan that lasted more than two hours.

This very popular tournament had 74 entrants generating a prizepool of €25,840 with Jason taking home €7,600 and Aidan €5,240. Third place and €3,600 went to Steven Bartley better known to his friends and rivals as Stork.

In the Dublin Women’s Championship Andrea Greenan emerged victorious claiming the beautiful Women’s Poker Association trophy and €2,370. Leading promoter of women in poker and event organiser, Tanya Masters was second for €1,500 with Julie McCann taking third and €1,000.
