Liam Chevalier is the Mystery Man as the Irish Poker Festival Opens Strongly

The second edition of the Irish Poker Festival hosted in Dublin’s luxurious Intercontinental Hotel got off to a strong start as 198 entries generated a prizepool of nearly €90,000 in the opening LuxonPay Mystery Bounty.

There was a strong international feel to the event with players from over 20 nations competing but in the final shakedown it was local heroes Liam Chevalier and Josh Stewart who chopped the main cash prizes with Liam taking €9,786 (+€4,000 in bounties) and Josh trousering €9,328 (+€6,800 in bounties).

Third place went to Egidijus Digrys from Lithuania whowas happy enough with his €5,000 prize more than bolstered by €13,800 in bounties. Ray “The Landlord” Wheatley kept up his brilliant recent run, taking 4th for €3,700 (+€500). Another local Colin Chan was buzzing with 5th place of €2,800 and €13,815 in bounties.

Fintan Gavin won yet another Omaha side event collecting €7,170 in the Omaha 4/5 beating Joseph Mullen (€4,500) into second and Mircea Rus, much better known as “Speedy” (€3,000) into third.

Peter Robinson from the UK won the inaugural Tennessee Hold’em European Championship ahead of Us visitor and Tennessee specialist William Morrow nd Daniel Williams, also from the UK.
